education and outreach in the Mat-Su Borough
47 health-based grants for everything from nutrition to
substance abuse counseling, children’s fitness programs,
outdoor safety education and school wellness initiatives
Healthy living and wellness education including the “3-5-0”
public education campaign, co-sponsoring “Healthy Living
Day” at the Alaska State Fair and rural health fairs across the
Borough
$20,000 in scholarships for Mat-Su residents pursuing
health care education
Increased local ownership in Mat-Su Regional Medical
Center to 25 percent
Acquired Healthy Communities program, supporting safety
initiatives like Kids Don’t Float, child-passenger safety,
snowmachine, ATV and bike safety
Created Regional Advisory Committees to encourage
community input
