Alaskan organizations that have received 501(c) (3) status from the Internal Revenue Service and are classified as “not a private foundation” under section 509(a) of the Code.
In selected cases the Foundation may choose to fund health related projects undertaken by organizations that normally fall outside guidelines. For example:
Religious organizations operating qualified health related projects without a religious purpose, which impacts the broad community.
Units of local government seeking partners in health related areas beyond traditional government functions.
Who We Do Not Fund
Organizations or foundations for redistribution of funds to entities of their own selection.
Non-profit organizations that have not received 501(c) (3) status from the Internal Revenue Service.
Individuals.
Other private foundations.
In general, K-12 education.
In general, religious organizations.
Organizations with a major purpose of influencing legislation or supporting candidates for political or appointed office.
Organizations that discriminate by reason of race, religion, sex, national origin, or political orientation.
Due to legal requirement, the Foundation is prohibited from funding organizations or projects which directly support operations and services of Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.

What We Fund
We fund programmatic solutions which target the root cause of health related problems.
We focus on funding the operating requirements of programs benefiting Mat-Su Borough residents.
Existing health related projects and initiatives presenting substantive solutions. Areas of emphasis, are:
Children’s Health
Rural Health
Community Wellness
Senior Health
Substance Abuse
We fund mental health related programs.
The Foundation will consider funding the expansion or start-up of innovative programs that for practical reasons address these health issues from a broader state-wide perspective.
Capital projects may be considered as part of a collaborative effort with other funding groups in the Mat-Su Borough only.
What We Do Not Fund
The Mat-Su Health Foundation concentrates its resources primarily in the fields listed above. Generally, that means we cannot support many worthy requests including the following:
Requests from for-profit organizations
Other foundations or pass-through grants
Loans, deficits, or debt reduction
Endowments
Fund raising events
General administrative, indirect, or overhead costs
Reimbursement for items in a completed project or items already purchased
